The theme for NAIDOC 2018 is "Because of her, we can". This year, to keep in with the theme, our school changed the normal way we celebrate NAIDOC. The school normally has the smoking ceremony, dancers, speeches etc near the mia mia in the bushland next to our school, followed by a morning tea for all our families. This year, all the eldest children of each family took home an invitation to invite a special woman in their lives to come along to the school and celebrate "Her" with a special morning tea. For example, "her" might be someone who has loved and cared for them or just someone they admire and respect.
The morning tea was on Tuesday, 24th July 2018 at 10am and we had lots of Nanna's, Mum's, Aunties, Sisters and Cousins, all come along together to Djidi Djidi to celebrate being the important women in the lives of our children. What a fantastic morning it was with everyone enjoying themselves, everyone loved the yummy morning tea spread that was served and having a look at their children's school work in the classrooms.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who helped behind the scene with setting up the morning tea, (which was indoors thank goodness, the weather was not kind) and the staff who made and provided all the moorditj food for our children and their special guests. The feedback from staff, students and families so far has been absolutely fantastic so once again, thankyou everyone.
